Yes Chook, and in my personal life, I think I have learnt the law of love outside of religion.

God is Love
by The Rebel inon my my way to work today i had a tract with the words " god is love" thrust in my hand by a young man, of some church denomination.
now if i were to give the tract to a " witness" he would find the tract repulsive, repellent, blasphemous.
" in fact if i i were a witness i would be punished for reading such material.. why would this be?

On my my way to work today I had a tract with the words " God is love" thrust in my hand by a young man, of some church denomination. Now if I were to give the tract to a " witness" he would find the tract repulsive, repellent, blasphemous." In fact if I I were a witness I would be punished for reading such material.
Why would this be? Because according to a witness the message in the tract " God is love" is designed to deliver an apostate message, it is designed to deprave and corrupt the mind of the witness. Personally I am sure the young man who thrust the tract in my hand had no intention to deprave and corrupt anybody he gave tracts to this morning.
Anyway the reason for the O.P was I was fascinated by how this seemingly innocuous phrase " God is love" can cause so much temperament and difference of opinion, even in Christian churches. But more importantly I wondered what this phrase " God is love" now means to me?
I concluded for me the phrase " God is love" are words, merely words. Maybe tomorrow I will on my way to work have thrust in to my hand by a well intended Christian of a different denomination a tract" God is truth." Oh dear! such zealousness reminds me of my former self. Anyway I think the phrase " God is love" must have some standard of reference, With the Witnesses it was Armegeddon and the destruction of the majority of people in my neighborhood. I must have been completely mad, insane and unloving to have once belived and delivered that message to those people in my neighborhood.
I have during writting this O.P tried to reform my thinking and think positively of the young man who thrust the tract in my hand today, maybe his church is less harmless than the organisation? But in conclusion would you not agree if we had continued delivering our message " God is love" that in so doing our life had been a failure?

Debating With Evolution Deniers is Just Like This

Simon I think what ever football team we support, we do so because we are supporters and become friends with fellow supporters, and for some reason our football club becomes the most important thing in our life. Like a Kingdom Hall to a witness, so is my Waford club to me, and the failures of my football team will never equal the disappointment nor the failures of my Kingdom Hall
: Watford f.c 3 Watford Kingdom Hall 0.

Iora croft, : How old is your Son? Was he ever baptized or unbaptised publisher?
First welcome to the board, it will nice to know more about you?
My son is 10 and at 5 sensible enough to offer these clever lines to me " Please no more bible"........I replied " but the end is coming soon" and he said " GROW UP DAD" :-)
Well I was the one who "GREW UP" before he became an unbaptised publisher, because I analyzed the personalities in my congregation and decided to study the organisations history, ummm the rest as they say is history. A very different history to which we were taught.
Now " Iara croft" do you recognize me from my avetor, or the photos I sent of my family on "Flippers" photo thread? Why not start an O.P and introduce yourself :-)

Well I am a football supporter of my club which has been a member of the football league for 108 years, in that time it's never won a major trophy. That's a long, long time and I think the biggest problem is we are crap. Should I find a new team to support?
That's the problem with football supporters, it's always the linesman or referees fault, that the "better" team doesn't win.
Come on Watford it's a new season.

Nice to have some mothers commenting. Teaching children to think is a must " Rebelfighter". And I also think, the main reason kids can get beaten down by difficulties is that the mountains they feel they can't climb, can be little hills to overcome when a parent shows empathy and love to the child's viewpoint.
For example Orlando asked me to watch him play in the school football final, it was at lunch time and only 10 minutes each half. My first thought was I am very busy with more important commitments and besides parents are not expected to attend anyway. But I turned up as I new this was something of great importance to Orlando. When he saw me I realized how very important this was for him. I guess it was important because we play football together most days, and this was his first "cup" final.
If any bodies interested the team lost, but I didn't embarrass Orlando by calling the referee out for his crappy decisions.

Trying to keep this relevant to the O.P. .The amazing difference between being a footballer and a football supporter is huge. A successful footballer needs. personal attitude, confidence, a feeling of being wanted by the club and supporters. These are some of the unseen elements that can make or break a footballer. However I noted many great footballers still make lousy pundits, yet many lousy footballers become great managers.
So in my opinion provided we keep football hooligans, football supporters, & players who don't bother training from debating, the goalposts can stay in place for a great debate with some very knowledgable "football" comments. However it also needs to be remembered not many coaches train the opposing teams players, that's saved for" INTERNATIONAL" managers.

Thie above is what I realise is my greatest victory having left the Watchtower. It is proof a fathers bad childhood, does not need to be handed down to his son. And the reason this parent believes, only outside the organisation has it been possible to show true feelings to his son, whilst Inside the organisation I believe my true feelings would have been locked away, because I knew they were rendered harmless by the organisation.
The above is just my experience of being a son and a father, I would value other posters opinions on benefits and negatives of being raised, or raising a child in or out the organisation.
